Jed Brennan
Jed is interested in the human condition and how it can be subtlety apparent, especially within a form of art. This extends to exploring to what extent nature can have a symbiotic nature with humans. This has translated in experimenting with form, texture, shape and space made from orchid plants, their flowers and their ceramic counterpart. Jed is a multidisciplinary artist stemming from a drawing and painting practice. He has had extensive experience painting in watercolours and oils and life drawing.
Currently, Jed is exploring how orchids can act as an instrument reflecting human mortality. Investigating questions such as how can an orchid flourish in a home conditions with a ceramic made to enliven the viewer and the plant and how can a botanical watercolour of an orchid give descriptive images of a flower, the mortality of it and also provide an insight to the painters view and reiterating one’s form of sight.
