Polyglot skills, acquired early in life thanks to a Belgian mother and a French father, quickly and irrevocably opened new horizons for a child spontaneously interested in discovering the mysteries of the world outside his grasp.
In the body of my work as a self-taught sculptor, I draw on a lifetime experience as a hair stylist endlessly manipulating volumes to create dynamic shapes, while playing with contrasts of light and colour until it reveals the unique essence of the subject.
Likewise, in my sculptural work, I am just as fascinated by the painstaking process of finding the right balance between negative and positive space and striking the exact moment when refracted light is optimised by the material and the colour carefully selected to express my inner voice, as I am in the final work itself.
The work continuously and seamlessly metamorphoses and transforms as I sculpt, following the constant flow of my energy until I achieve the emotional balance I naturally seek.
To me the process of sculpting is almost akin to meditation and the resulting work a concrete expression of a specific stage of my evolution as an artist.
